on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental
budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses,

Position Summary
The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory is seeking a Marine Science
Systems Technician-1. The Marine Science Systems Technician-1
(MSST-1) serves as a technical Jr. Operator and assists with
technical/electronics support and maintenance for seagoing science
missions at LDEO and at sea onboard the academic research vessel,
R/V Marcus G. Langseth. Monitors hardware performance and provides
input into discussions on equipment upgrades/replacement. When
assigned on board the ship for science missions, this person serves
as a shift watch (under the direction of senior staff) during all
Langseth science operations. As watch stander, this individual is
responsible for logging events as directed for the various data
recording systems on Langseth. The MSST-1 must follow quality and
safety procedures.
Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
The MSST-1 responsibilities require approximately 6 months per year
at sea.
