Job Description:
Job Title: Sous-Chef
Lead daily kitchen operations in our Harlem commissary, supporting
the team and ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
Collaborate in the development of new menu items inspired by
African flavors, helping bring creativity and seasonality to every
dish. Take charge of inventory management, ordering, and cost
control to ensure fresh ingredients and minimize waste. Maintain
food safety and sanitation standards, keeping a clean and efficient
kitchen environment. Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff,
fostering a supportive and collaborative team culture. Work closely
with our front-of-house teams at both Harlem and Bed-Stuy locations
to ensure smooth service and handle special requests or dietary
needs.
--- Proven experience as a sous-chef or senior line cook in a
high-volume kitchen environment.
--- Deep appreciation for African cuisine with a willingness to
expand culinary knowledge.
--- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a knack for
motivating team members.
--- Problem-solving mindset and passion for crafting memorable food
experiences.
--- Organizational skills with a focus on quality, safety, and
efficiency.
--- Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends,
and holidays.
