About This Opportunity
The Chef de Cuisine is a vital role at Manhatta, a restaurant and
event space from Union Square Hospitality Group. Perched sixty
stories above Lower Manhattan, our team serves seasonal, inspired
cooking, and offers stunning views of New York City, its bridges,
and waterways. As a key member of our culinary team, the Chef de
Cuisine will oversee daily kitchen operations, lead a
high-performing team, and deliver exceptional hospitality to our
guests.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing kitchen team, ensuring
excellence and hospitality throughout each day's service
periods.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to maintain timely and
relevant menu changes, leveraging seasonal ingredient changes and
culinary expertise.
- Set a positive, collaborative work environment for both service
and kitchen teams, fostering clear communication and a culture of
Enlightened Hospitality.
- Ensure proper systems are in place for back-of-house
operations, maintaining cleanliness, safety, and 'A' level health
code standards.
- Complete assigned administrative tasks accurately and on time,
leveraging Microsoft Office applications and other tools.
- Deliver constructive feedback and guidance, ensuring team
members have opportunities for growth and development.
- Identify internal and external opportunities to build our team,
promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
- 4+ years of Sous Chef experience in a similar environment, with
a proven track record of success.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, restaurant
scheduling, inventory, and purchasing processes.
- English fluency (Spanish preferred but not required); ability
to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, handling the
physical demands of a fast-paced kitchen environment.
